It's hot here

Amber stayed with me all weekend, and we had a lot of fun. We even played monopoly......which......I lost so badly at as evidenced by the disproportionate property distribution seen below:

We also ate at Casa Blanca for Ros and Liv's birthday. It was fun and tasty:

Welp, it's confirmed that my brother Zach has stage 4 colon cancer. He starts chemo Tuesday to shrink the tumor before surgery and help with the pain. Average life expectancy for stage 4 cancer is 2.5 years. He's 27 now. Seems tragic, but God knows best. And I think I really trust Him on this one. You can learn more by checking their blog. It's on the right if you wanna check it out. 

Ryan texted me something that I think CS Lewis hit on the nose: God whispers through our pleasures, but trials are His megaphone to yell at us:)

a looooooooong week

Girl's Camp. It just doesn't get much better. Awesome food, tons of laughter, countless friends, ridiculous amounts of fun, and an opportunity to draw nearer to God. There is worship, a skit night, devotions, one-on-ones, craft/cupcake/hair workshops, games, volleyball, water balloons, etc, etc.

While I was home, our family got some bad news: my brother Zach has cancer. We aren't sure how bad yet, but I will try to keep you posted. Pray.

Soggy Sprint

Running through a woods, trails, a steep hill.

Jumping over straw bales.....and sometimes other people.

Frantically sloshing through a muddy, knee-deep creek.....10 times. 

I love getting dirty! It was a super fun 5k. I ran it in 35:11, which isn't bad for it being half obstacle course! I think it is better than my last 5k because I didn't stop running even once during the entire 3.2 miles. Yay.

Ew but fun. After the race, my tennis shoes weighed like 20 million pounds, but it was way worth it! God bless ya'll!

a Memorable Memorial Day

We sang. We ate. We sang more. We blabbed. We ate some more. We sang some more. It was a GREAT time! We had visitors from Fairbury, Forrest, Sarasota, Morton, Fort Scott, Belvediere, Bluffton, Nashville, Washington, Bloomington, etc, etc. I had forgotten how good it felt to hang out with a young group! 

Okay. The game going on in this picture is very fun. There is only one pen and one die, but everyone has a piece of paper. You take turns rolling the die, and if you roll a 1 or a 6, you get the pen and start writing 1-100. HOWEVER, the die keeps getting passed, so when someone else rolls a 1 or a 6, they steal the pen from you! It's a craze mad grab to be the first to get to 100!
